If you live in Prichard, here's where things stand. Council President Traci Hale presented bank records at an emergency meeting Friday that she said showed the general fund at negative $20,602.36 after pending payroll transactions. WKRG reported that Mayor Carletta Davis did not attend and that her office said she was unavailable.
Davis denied Thursday night that the $60,000 went to cover payroll. "We are fixing the bridge," she said, adding that the finance department's return to QuickBooks kept it from issuing a check directly. Hale said the money went back into the gasoline tax account after council members raised questions.
