- ➤ A male pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in the 5900 block of Highway 90 on Friday in Mobile, and police are investigating the incident as next of kin have been notified. AL.com

- ➤ On Friday, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced that Alabama will receive about $11.725 million from eight drug makers as part of a nationwide opioid settlement—designed to hold the companies accountable for their role in the crisis. 1819 News
- ➤ Four mayoral candidates will appear at a forum on July 15 at the VIA Senior Center to discuss their plans for Mobile—doors open at 5:15 p.m. and the event will air live on FOX10 News. - ➤ U.S. House Representative Shomari Figures, elected last November as the first African American in the redrawn District Two, is pushing bipartisan legislation with the Rural Hospital Stabilization Act of 2025—an effort meant to preserve rural hospitals and secure fair representation for black voters as challenges over district maps and federal benefits continue.
