A male pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in the 5900 block of Highway 90 on Friday in Mobile, and police are investigating the incident as next of kin have been notified.

On Friday, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced that Alabama will receive about $11.725 million from eight drug makers as part of a nationwide opioid settlement—designed to hold the companies accountable for their role in the crisis.

U.S. Rep. Shomari Figures from Mobile co-sponsored the SCORE Act to set up a national framework for student-athletes to get fair pay and support services—like health care and financial literacy courses—ensuring they are ready for life after college.

He said he will keep working with others to strengthen the bill and protect student-athletes, schools, and athletic conferences.
