ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Wilmer mother of four, Brittany Sherman, was killed in a boat collision near Bayou Sara on Sunday at 5:50 p.m. — her husband Cody Sherman and their four-year-old child were injured — and taken to USA Health University Hospital.  1819 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Colt Grill BBQ & Spirits opened earlier this year at 118 W. Laurel Ave in downtown Foley — after owners from Arizona, inspired by a trip to see Kenny Chesney, discovered the local charm. The renovated 100-year-old building now offers smoked meats made from scratch and a stylish interior aimed at downtown diners.  AL.com

CRIME NEWS

  • Mobile Police Department arrested two juveniles on homicide charges in connection with a crash on Woodland Avenue on May 20 that left 72 year old Cedric Tinsley dead (he was found with a gunshot wound).  WKRG News 5
  • Prichard police put an officer on leave after bystander video showed him allegedly hitting a man with a baseball bat while city officials review the incident.  Lagniappe Daily
  • On June 12th, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office stopped a Cadillac XTS on Interstate 65 and seized 22 pounds of cocaine valued at $250,000—arresting Texas residents Dominick Balli and James Godbe on trafficking charges while holding them on a $1,000,000 bond as the investigation continues.  NBC 15

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Scott Bridge Company expects its new bridge over the ICW to be finished by year’s end as workers install heavy structural steel while traffic is closed from 6 a.m. June 24 to 6 p.m. June 26. The company seeks the remaining $7 million from ALDOT—only $2 million has been paid—to cover losses incurred from a nearly six-month shutdown caused by an injunction.  1819 News

  • Culver's in Foley and Orange Beach hosted the 'Pint for A Pint' event on Tuesday, June 17 where donors gave blood at the Big Red Bus and received coupons for free custard and a $20 gift card—OneBlood runs the mobile donation site.  Gulf Coast Media
