- ➤ Alabama colleges have varied application deadlines for Fall 2026 enrollment, with Auburn University (Feb. 1) and UAB (June 1) setting key dates while some institutions use rolling deadlines. The Alabama Goes to College Direct Admissions program opened in July to assist applicants to 39 schools. AL.com

- ➤ The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources predicts a lower 2026 oyster harvest due to water stressors affecting oyster survival. Public oyster reefs will remain open until 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, and officials will continue tracking oyster settlement in Mobile Bay. NBC 15
