- ➤ The Mobile Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Christmas Extravaganza at the James Seals Community Center on Saturday, Dec. 20, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.—the event includes bounce houses, lawn games, a bike raffle, crafts, music, Santa photos, a toy giveaway for kids 12 and under and a screening of Elf. - ➤ The Mobile County Animal Shelter is over capacity and asks residents to adopt or foster one of its 100+ dogs with waived fees through Saturday, Dec. 20. Visit Monday–Friday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) at 7665 Howells Ferry Road. UTV 44

- ➤ For over 30 years, Christmas 'Round the Corner in Fairhope has been a holiday haven with ornaments, nutcrackers, wreaths, trees, snow globes, and Santas. The shop topped a national survey as Alabama’s most Christmassy store and is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Gulf Coast Media
- ➤ The Noble South in downtown Mobile has received Michelin recognition in its first American South guide as one of 50 Bib Gourmand picks (offering good food at moderate prices). Owner Chris Rainosek said the restaurant uses locally sourced ingredients from nearby farms and accepts walk-ins and reservations throughout the week. Gulf Coast Media

- ➤ Atlas Van Lines released its annual migration study based on moves from Nov. 1, 2024 to Oct. 31, 2025, and it shows Alabama ranked eighth in inbound versus outbound moves at 57% to 43% (from four southeastern states), highlighting growing regional appeal. 1819 News
- ➤ Local farmers, manufacturers and energy producers depend on fair rail service, and nine state attorneys general have asked the STB to examine a proposed merger that would give one company about 40% of U.S. freight — a move that could raise costs and slow shipments to Gulf Coast ports. 1819 News

- ➤ Alabama Power will begin recycling coal ash into concrete at Plant Barry in January 2026 + most ash will remain capped in place along the Mobile River, leaving environmental advocates concerned about groundwater risks. Gulf Coast Media
