  • Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama will launch the 2026 cookie season featuring the new Exploremores cookie—a rocky road treat with chocolate, marshmallow and toasted almond-flavored crème—alongside longtime favorites.   • The HOPE For All Gulf Coast holiday food drive is ongoing at Mobile PD precincts (including the HQ lobby and fire stations) and will accept food donations until Dec. 18 to prepare holiday meal boxes for over 130 families in HOPE housing programs.  NBC 15

  • A local performing arts nonprofit asked the Mobile City Council on Tuesday to support its plan to open a new theater along the I-65 Beltline — a project that aims to enhance local performing arts and provide a space for community gatherings.  Lagniappe Daily
  • A historic marker honoring the Pelican Girls was unveiled today on South Royal Street near the History Museum and colonial Fort Condé in Mobile. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Nine state attorneys general sent a letter to the Surface Transportation Board on Nov. 14 urging a review of the planned merger between Union Pacific + Norfolk Southern, which may give one rail operator too much power and cause higher prices and delays at Gulf ports. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, Dec. 8 at Government Plaza, Mobile County commissioners rejected Waste Management's plan to nearly triple the Chastang Landfill's daily capacity and import garbage from nearby states due to longstanding resident opposition and fears of the facility becoming a dumping ground.  AL.com
  • Mobile Airport Authority said construction on the new downtown terminal is running $19M under budget and is set for substantial completion by August 2026 & marks a major turnaround in the project.  Lagniappe Daily

  • The Colts signed 44-year-old Philip Rivers, the St. Michael Catholic head coach and longtime NFL veteran, to their practice squad after Monday night's workout and will assess his performance Wednesday and Thursday to decide his availability.  Gulf Coast Media
