- ➤ On Wednesday, Dec. 3, Gayle Benson, owner of the Saints and Pelicans, visited E.R. Dickson Elementary to support the Big Brothers, Big Sisters holiday program by bringing cheerleaders along with Sir Saint and Pierre T. Pelican. - ➤ Terry and Nick Saban, Joe Agresti, Perdido Hotel Partners and investors bought Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach as of Dec. 2 + the family destination will reopen on Dec. 30 under local management by Aurora Hospitality Partners aiming to preserve its legacy. Gulf Coast Media

- ➤ The Pensters will celebrate 60 years during a meeting on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fairhope Public Library. The free event features prose and poetry readings + light refreshments to mark the milestone in local literary culture. Gulf Coast Media
- ➤ Poinsettias, with bright red bracts and a long history from Aztec dyeing to American holiday traditions, brighten displays along the Gulf Coast. Local garden centers and home gardeners celebrate Alabama’s native (wild) poinsettia as a festive reminder of the season. Gulf Coast Media
- ➤ HGTV named Fairhope the best small town to visit for Christmas in Alabama. The coastal town will host its Magical Christmas Parade on Dec. 5 (6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.), though inclement weather may affect the event. AL.com

- ➤ Master Boat Builders has announced plans to build a new $60M shipbuilding facility to construct ships for the U.S. military. The facility will come to Bayou Coden (the planned site) with construction expected to begin soon. Lagniappe Daily

- ➤ Mary Pettit told the council Tuesday that stricter animal control laws should be enforced after her cat was killed by a dog on Nov. 23 — councilman C.J. Smalls raised safety concerns after another dog attack as the mayor’s office said plans are in the works. NBC 15
- ➤ Chris Lewis returned as ADCNR’s Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries director to oversee 315 staff and manage conservation initiatives including CWD sampling in northwest counties. He rejoined on Monday and brings decades of local experience to reconnect communities with nature. Gulf Coast Media
