- ➤ Master Boat Builders announced Tuesday plans to build a $60 million manufacturing facility dedicated to government and defense shipbuilding programs across Bayou Coden from its current yard. Site clearance began last month at a (20-acre) location and construction will take 18 to 24 months, offering 150,000 sq ft of manufacturing space and expanded workforce training areas. UTV 44
- ➤ Airbus is building a warehouse on a 40-acre lease at Raven Dr and Cardinal Dr two miles from its assembly facility to support its expansion — MAA is asking the city to waive fees that could save Airbus nearly $470,000, with the council set to vote next Tuesday on the request. - ➤ Alabama Power announced on Tuesday that it will hold customer rates steady through 2027—customers will see no increases in regulated retail rates even as other costs rise. - ➤ Goodwill Gulf Coast and the South Alabama Homebuilding Academy are launching an eight-week tuition-free Construction Skills Boot Camp — starting in January at the McMaken building on Gordon Smith Drive — that trains Mobile residents 17 and older in roofing, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and HVAC. The program offers hands-on training, career counseling and a Jobs Fair connecting students with local construction employers. NBC 15
- ➤ Cottage Hill Christian Academy will hold a special Early National Signing Day event to honor three student-athletes advancing their academic and athletic careers. - ➤ Mayor Cheriogotis said on Tuesday that the new $300M downtown arena is on schedule but faces a tight timeline to open before Fat Tuesday on Feb 7 as crews work to complete the 10000 seat venue by New Year's Day. Officials said the arena will host elaborate balls and a minor league hockey team will debut in the 2027 to 2028 season plus is managed under a 22 year contract with a sports entertainment firm.
