- ➤ Sonny Brewer led a fundraising campaign that raised $369,000—including two large anonymous gifts and a matching grant—to fund moving Henry Stuart’s historic Round House to Flying Creek Nature Preserve. - ➤ Prichard business owners reported a water leak bubbling next to St. Stephens Road has flowed into a parking lot on Shelton Beach Road for three months, causing erosion and potholes that risk driver safety. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Rodgers BBQ on St. Stephens Road reopened Tuesday after a nearby fire forced a four-hour closure — a firewall limited damage to minor paneling so the restaurant now operates normal 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. hours even though an adjacent mechanic shop was a total loss from an electrical problem and the fire remains under investigation. - ➤ Mobile Ballet will perform 'The Nutcracker' in December at the Saenger Theatre in Mobile on Dec.19, Dec.20, and Dec.21 and at the L.D. Owen Performing Arts Center in Bay Minette on Dec.6 following Christmas Fest—guest artists, a food drive, and a holiday brunch fundraiser at the Battle House Hotel support the event and its student outreach programs. - ➤ Internationally known artist Kelsey Montague unveiled her 26-foot mural on St. Francis Street downtown—she worked with the Downtown Alliance to feature Alabama native animals like dolphin, crawfish, alligator, bear, and oyster and hopes the artwork will spark a friendly photo challenge. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dauphin Island Sea Lab broke ground on a new dormitory on Nov. 18 to ease housing needs for K-12 program participants, graduate students, interns, and visiting scientists. The two-story building will offer 63 rooms on the first floor and 18 two-bedroom apartments on the second floor, with legislative funding and support from Gov. Kay Ivey's office + local officials. - ➤ Mobile has updated its Mardi Gras horse and rider policies for the 2026 season, replacing the prior veterinary certificate requirement with evaluations (using national health standards) on parade days.
