  • On Wednesday morning, families queued at Ladd-Peebles Stadium for a food distribution effort—organized by United Way after SNAP benefit delays—that helped over 1,500 households gain relief amid the recent government shutdown.  The Mobile Rundown

  • The Turkey Trot for Hope will be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 27th at 8:00 a.m. at Mardi Gras Park in downtown Mobile—raising funds for Camp Rapahope to support children with cancer and their families.  WKRG News 5
  • On November 13, the Christian Service Center reported 134 families with 402 children have registered for its Christmas Cheer toy distribution program from Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan—interviews for new registrations will continue on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday until December 11.   • HOPE for All Gulf Coast is partnering with Mobile Police Department + Mobile Fire and Rescue Department to distribute holiday meal boxes for 132 families in its housing programs.   • Rick Burgess said on Monday that he had been absent from his radio show since Thursday because his family needed him and he asked listeners for prayers according to his Facebook statement.  1819 News
  • Mobile is set to boost its cultural tourism as local leaders emphasize the city’s rich heritage—highlighting Africatown and revitalized corridors that appeal to heritage travelers. Officials and business leaders have planned new visitor services that are expected to attract more tourists and strengthen the local economy.  AL.com
  • The Charming Teacup opened in 2024 in Fairhope—providing an English tearoom experience in the historic Miss Coleen’s House at 17111 Scenic Highway 98. Owner Courtney Pendle, who learned her craft from family in Colorado, serves loose leaf tea blends like Queen’s Tea and a special Clementine Clove for the holidays with limited seating until Dec. 20.  Gulf Coast Media

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Alabama Power filed a request with the Public Service Commission to freeze electricity rates through 2027—CFO Moses Feagin said the step followed discussions with the PSC and the Attorney General’s Office. The utility will rely on internal cost measures and delay rate adjustments to help keep bills steady.  AL.com
  • Gulf Shores International Airport is now offering flights with Allegiant to six winter destinations — Appleton/Green Bay, Belleville, Fayetville, Cincinnati, Des Moines and Nashville — with fares starting at $39. The airport will add routes next season to cities like Springfield, Louisville, Huntsville, Omaha, Oklahoma City, Knoxville and Kansas City to boost its nonstop flight offerings.  Gulf Coast Media

  • City officials on Dauphin Island are proposing new rules—making it illegal to feed foxes, raccoons, possums and treat wildlife without permission to protect nesting birds and turtles. Residents can speak at the public hearing at Dauphin Island Town Hall on December 1st at 4 p.m. or submit written comments by fax.  NBC 15
  • ALDOT will pause all temporary lane closures on highways from November 26 to November 30 to ease traffic during busy Thanksgiving travel—rentals and gas prices are lower than last year.  1819 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Alabama is planning to counter Auburn's offense that now features three quarterbacks after changes were made at the starting position, with Stanford transfer Ashton Daniels and freshman Deuce Knight playing key roles. Coach Wommack said that while each quarterback brings different strengths+ Auburn's offensive identity stays similar, Alabama will face the team on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on ABC.  1819 News
