COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Robertsdale Band Boosters will host a Car Show and Chili Cook-Off on Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Robertsdale High School at 1 Golden Bear Drive. Sandy Sansing Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Foley is partnering with the boosters—supporting a 'Stuff the Jeep' food drive to help local families and benefit the first Grand Champion Golden Bear Band. - ➤ A ramp at Boggy Point Boat Launch in Orange Beach has reopened amid repairs while the second remains closed through today. The entire launch will close again from November 11th through November 13th + contractors need time to finish repairs. WKRG News 5
- ➤ Communities across the Gulf Coast held Veterans Day events on November 7 and are honoring servicemembers today with parades, ceremonies and concerts. Additional events will occur through November 11—ranging from boat parades to tribute concerts in cities such as Robertsdale, Blakeley, Fairhope, Elberta, Daphne and Mobile. Gulf Coast Media

- ➤ Mobile Regional Airport remains on schedule as it was not included in the FAA's 10% flight reduction order — while other major hubs experience delays. Officials said they continue to coordinate with airlines and federal partners to prepare for any needed changes. WKRG News 5

- ➤ Two artists will perform at the OWA Theater as part of the 41st Annual Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival. - ➤ Mobile firefighter and Army National Guard captain James McDevitt will release his debut WWII novel 'A Walk Among Heroes' on Nov. 11 to honor veterans by sharing their sacrifices with commemorative coins and battlefield drops; he plans events in the United States and Normandy (the launch coincides with Veterans Day). - ➤ Surfer and musician Jack Johnson will perform at The Wharf in Orange Beach on August 26 as part of his 43-date SURFILMUSIC Tour—his new single 'Hold On To The Light' was released Nov. 7 and his documentary is set to debut next year. WKRG News 5

- ➤ A new RaceTrac plaza off Bay Bridge Road near Africatown opened this week with a ribbon cutting ceremony and created 40 new jobs—a move local officials expect will attract more investments, such as hotels, to boost Prichard’s historic neighborhood. NBC 15

- ➤ Citrus canker has been detected in Baldwin and Mobile counties after the Auburn University Plant Pathology Lab confirmed its presence from foliage and fruit samples collected during ADAI's routine survey — a quarantine has been established to help stop the spread of the disease. NBC 15

- ➤ Alabama airports report little direct impact from FAA flight cuts in high-volume markets but advise caution if connecting flights are delayed—Birmingham, Montgomery, Huntsville, and Dothan are monitoring the situation as flight changes may occur from other hubs. - ➤ The YMCA of South Alabama is offering free memberships in November to SNAP recipients and federal employees. - ➤ On Friday, Saraland beat Wetumpka 49-24 in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs. Quarterback Jamison Roberts led the win by completing 16 of 20 passes for 277 yards with two passing and two rushing touchdowns—moving the Spartans, now 9-1 at home, into the second round where they will host Spain Park.
