- ➤ The Greater Gulf State Fair closed on Oct. 26 due to storms and reopened yesterday at 4 p.m.—officials said safety was their top priority. The fair will run daily through Nov. 2. WKRG News 5

- ➤ Artist Dean Mosher spoke at the Fairhope Public Library on Saturday during the Fairhope Museum of History’s speaker series, discussing Craig Sheldon's early life, his legal troubles, and how he built Fairhope's famous Storybook Castle. - ➤ Local officials announced that a live stream and a new documentary will cover the planned tow-out and reefing of the famed S.S. United States from Mobile—where contractors are modifying the vessel for its final voyage to become the world’s largest artificial reef. The ship, known for transporting presidents and movie stars, is scheduled to sink about 20 miles south of the Florida Panhandle after a year of work. AL.com

- ➤ Mobile Area Water and Sewer System reports a wastewater overflow affecting Dog River Creek—officials are monitoring the waterway and will update the public on the overflow's volume and location once it stops. NBC 15

- ➤ The Alabama Department of Human Resources announced that SNAP benefits will be suspended starting November 1 due to the federal government shutdown, and benefits already on EBT cards can be used before that date. Officials and the Alabama Grocers Association said Congress must act quickly—protecting over 750,000 people who depend on the program’s more than $140 million in monthly aid. 1819 News
- ➤ Drivers along State Route 59 near Baldwin Preparatory Academy will soon face lower speed limits as ALDOT reduces speeds from 65 mph to 55 mph before the school zone and from 55 mph to 40 mph within the zone. Speed limits will be enforced during school hours—7:30 to 8:15 a.m. in the morning and 2 to 2:45 p.m. in the afternoon—following a request from local school and public safety officials to improve safety.
