  • The Drug Education Council unveiled a 12-foot tall and 18-foot long megabrain exhibit in Mobile to show how drugs and alcohol hurt the developing brain (focusing on areas that control decision-making) and will bring it to schools and events across the Gulf Coast.  WKRG News 5

HEALTH NEWS

  • Lawmakers' standoff over extending ACA tax credits is putting about half a million Alabama residents at risk for health insurance rate hikes of up to 25%—the Department of Insurance warns that premium increases may hit by Nov.1—while negotiations continue in Congress.  Alabama Public Radio

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Chef Caitlin Horne has refreshed the menu at Fairhope Inn with new dishes like Oyster Bread Pudding and Mushrooms on Toast, drawing on local ingredients and her signature techniques (the Inn dates back to 1906). She joined in July and plans to expand the dessert offerings with house-made pastas and upgraded ice cream options.  AL.com
