- ➤ The Ronald McDonald House of Mobile is celebrating 25 years by hosting an open house—beginning at 10 a.m. on October 20th—to let community members learn about its support for over 11,000 families facing serious medical challenges. The Mobile Rundown
- ➤ The Elberta German Sausage Festival will start at 8 a.m. on Oct. 25 at Elberta Town Park on Pine St.—it will raise funds for the volunteer fire department, support local nonprofit groups, and feature nearly 200 vendor booths along with food and fun for children. - ➤ Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Gulf Shores held its first pet blessing event on Oct. 4 at Meyer Park to honor St. Francis of Assisi with 50 people and 30 pets including a chinchilla and police K—9 units. - ➤ The Hall Namie Packing Company — a community staple on Iroquois Street in Chickasaw — was mostly destroyed by a fire on Sept 9 when officials said the blaze started in the boiler room and photos taken more than three weeks later show parts of the building still standing. WKRG News 5

- ➤ Excelsior Band Preservation will host a fundraiser called 'Keep the Music Playing' on Nov. 16 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Byrne Hall on the Spring Hill College campus — featuring live music, a silent auction, refreshments, and a look at a future Ace Theater — to support its 142nd anniversary legacy. - ➤ Today Swift-Coles Historic Home held a grand opening for the John Byard Swift Jr. Pavilion built for outdoor events in Bon Secour. The pavilion cost about $150,000—$175,000 and has water outlets and electricity so it can be rented for community gatherings. Gulf Coast Media

- ➤ A project nearly two years in the making removed over 13 abandoned vessels from Dog River & debris from Hurricane Sally that had posed a safety risk to operating boats. The City will seek more funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to extend the removal program to other waterways. WKRG News 5
- ➤ On Oct 2, members of the Little Lagoon Preservation Society harvested dozens of oyster cages from gardens that had been suspended since May—about 30 volunteers measured clusters under guidance from Auburn University. The harvested oysters were moved to nearby reefs as part of a restoration effort to rebuild habitat affected by past dredging in Mobile Bay. Gulf Coast Media
- ➤ Heavy rain fell in Elberta on Sunday, October 5th, washing sediment from a nearby construction site into Moccasin Bayou—sparking environmental concerns from residents who reported dead fish and algal blooms.
