- ➤ South Baldwin Chamber Foundation is partnering with GlenLakes Golf Club to host the annual Golf FORE! Education tournament on Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.—the event will feature a grab-and-go breakfast, a shotgun start, on-course games, a silent auction and an awards ceremony to support programs for teachers and students. - ➤ State Rep. Barbara Drummond (D-Mobile) has received $100,000 from the Alabama Education Association to back her mayoral run in Mobile as voters prepare for the runoff. The union gave $25,000 in May, $25,000 in August and another $50,000 recently, making up most of her campaign funds. 1819 News
- ➤ Today, the House passed a government funding bill to keep operations running until Nov. 21 by a 217—212 vote—Rep. Shomari Figures warned that cuts to key services like healthcare could mean recurring shutdowns. The Senate later rejected the bill with a 44—48 vote, leaving the funding in doubt. WKRG News 5
