- ➤ A fire destroyed Hall’s Sausage and Wholesale Meats on Iroquois Street Tuesday evening—leaving only cement blocks and wooden planks as employees, customers, and the owner’s family mourned the loss of the local business that has served the community since 1945, while firefighters struggled to breach the door. - ➤ Town officials announced that Morris Day & The Time will headline Mobile’s MoonPie Over Mobile celebration on Dec. 31, 2025, with a Kids Zone open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mardi Gras Park. Evening festivities will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Riverview Plaza Hotel Courtyard, where the world’s largest edible MoonPie will be cut and a second-line parade will start at 8:10 p.m. AL.com
- ➤ South Alabama Comic Con returns to Mobile on Sept. 27—28 at the Mobile Convention Center with pop culture events including celebrity meet-and-greets, cosplay contests and panels. Visitors can buy advance tickets at $30 per day, with special pricing for military and free entry for children 10 and under. Gulf Coast Media
- ➤ Michael Lewis, better known as Square Tight Mike, announced he has revamped the comedy show Laugh Live Love after 10 years using a new billboard on St. Stephens Road—this advertisement shows two Black clowns with the phrase 'It’s time to get the clowns out!' scheduled for Oct. 12 at the Black Wolf Event Hall, and it has drawn controversy. - ➤ Coastal Alabama Community College reported record enrollment growth as more high school graduates choose the affordable local college option. Enrollment increased by 17% to over 8,800 students across eight campuses — and retention has improved since the pandemic. WKRG News 5
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jackie Wilson from Bama Bay Oyster Farm said her oyster cages in Mobile Bay are covered in thick mud that is causing oysters to struggle—she links the buildup to dredging practices by the Army Corps of Engineers. Acting Director Kevin Anson noted that wild oysters have declined by 45% and the upcoming harvest season starting October 6 will be much shorter than last year's. NBC 15

- ➤ U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville is supporting a bill that would force Congress to stay in session until a budget is passed to keep the government open. - ➤ In Prichard, mayoral candidate Lorenzo Martin filed a motion to reconsider after 13 provisional ballots were not processed because the city clerk turned them in one day late.
