- ➤ The unofficial election results in Mobile show a likely runoff between State Rep. Barbara Drummond and former District Court Judge Spiro Cheriogotis after 95% of polling places reported 34.23% for Drummond and 27.81% for Cheriogotis. Former police chief Paul Prine and County Commissioner Connie Hudson received 19.72% and 18.24% of the votes—figures that shape the competitive mayoral race. 1819 News
- ➤ Alabama holds its municipal elections during hurricane season, a timing that has led to disruptions such as Mobile's runoff after Hurricane Katrina and delays caused by Tropical Storm Isaac. Local officials say the schedule will remain even though other Gulf states hold their elections at different times—voters in Mobile continue to face possible weather challenges when casting their ballots.
