The ADCNR Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division is launching an online series called 'Discover Alabama’s Public Lands' with webinars and classes in fishing, hunting and trapping starting August 27.
The series helps people learn public land rules and safety and is available on the Outdoor Alabama Academy website.

Alabama high school basketball will soon use a shot clock after 72.81% of readers backed the AHSAA rule approved in April.
Schools must mount the clocks for the 2026-27 season — officials plan to share more details at the Oct. 8 Central Board meeting.
UAB football held its first preseason scrimmage yesterday at Protective Stadium where the defense excelled with sophomore defensive end J’Quan Mason recording four sacks, and the team will meet again next Saturday before its season opener at Illinois on Sept.

B.C. Rain coach Lawrence Yelding has high hopes for junior receiver Darryl Blackmon Jr. (6-foot-4, 215-pound) as he draws college recruiters’ attention for his speed and versatility, and his team will open the season Friday at Baldwin County.
South Alabama football battled extreme heat during their first preseason scrimmage yesterday at Hancock Whitney Stadium, scoring four touchdowns & three field goals while recording key defensive plays.
The team is off today and will resume practice Monday.
