- ➤ Ray Von McCall, a 37-year-old suspect wanted by Kansas City on charges of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, was arrested Wednesday in Mobile after camera evidence, witness accounts and license plate readings from Tupelo linked him to a fatal shooting and car crash—events that began on Aug. 11. - ➤ Breore Williams was sentenced to life without parole for fatally stabbing 69-year-old Robert Thomas Ragona during a 2021 robbery in south Alabama—he broke into Ragona’s home on December 13, stabbed him 11 times, robbed his belongings, and was arrested the next day. AL.com
- ➤ Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch said suspect Joel Fuller—who was out on bond for domestic violence and facing new charges—repeatedly threatened a woman by slashing her tires and sending a selfie with a message before leading a high-speed chase on Airport Boulevard that ended in a crash injuring at least two people while Fuller remains in critical condition. - ➤ Prichard officer Malachi Ligon is charged with theft and distributing private images after he took a man's phone during a domestic violence arrest and is scheduled for arraignment on August 27—Sheriff Paul Burch said his record, including a firing and criminal bookings, should have kept him from joining the police academy. - ➤ On August 2, 2025, deputies responded to a trespass complaint at Saint Elmo 7th Day Adventist Church on 8970 March Road in Irvington—where a witness said they were intimidated and removed from a church committee after raising concerns about a registered sex offender holding a position, while others reported similar pressure and public removal by deputies as the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office investigates possible violations of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. - ➤ Four people allegedly in the country illegally were arrested on Thursday in Baldwin County by FBI Mobile—working with the Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, ATF, DEA, Border Patrol, and Enforcement and Removal Operations—after one suspect crashed his truck while trying to flee. - ➤ Amtrak’s Mardi Gras Service returns today on a special inaugural ride that links Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, Biloxi, and Pascagoula with two daily trips between New Orleans and Mobile.
