- ➤ Mobile police have reminded drivers to slow down in school zones as thousands of students head back to school, and Community Resource Officer Supervisor Amanda Lutman urged those who see speeding to call the traffic safety unit at 251-208-1214 (Public Information Officer Roderick Miles also emphasized the safety message). ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Mobile Fire-Rescue crews and Mobile Police are working on a technical rescue at the 1800 block of Princeton Woods Drive where three MAWSS contractors are involved — one victim self-rescued and was taken to a hospital while rescue teams work to reach the others; police also warn people not to fly drones over the area. - ➤ On Monday morning, Mobile County officials reported that during a sewer project on Princeton Woods Drive East, three contract workers went into a hole+two died and one was injured after suspected gas exposure. AL.com
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Edina Spady, a 58-year-old woman, has been missing in Mobile since July 11 and is considered endangered — she was last seen driving a blue 2015 Chevrolet Cruze. UTV 44
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting August 10, a rare six-planet alignment is visible before sunrise along Alabama’s eastern horizon as Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn appear low in the sky. Some planets are visible to the naked eye while Uranus & Neptune require binoculars or a telescope, and stargazers can also watch the Perseid meteor shower peak from August 11 to 13. 1819 News

- ➤ The Alabama Public Radio news team was honored by the National Association of Black Journalists for its eight-month investigation into the new U.S. House seat—its Best Public Affairs Segment earned a national Salute to Excellence award at a convention in Cleveland over the weekend. - ➤ Mobile will remove more than two dozen downtown traffic signals on Aug. 13th to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety—signals at low-volume intersections will be converted to four-way stops with new ADA ramps and updated curbs, with work done in phases until next spring. - ➤ Indivisible Mobile has planned a Labor Day protest on Monday, September 1 at noon—gathering at Spanish Plaza on 401 Government St.—and protesters will march to Government Plaza with street and lot parking available along with restrooms at the History Museum on Royal Street. UTV 44
