- ➤ Toulminville firefighters and volunteers built a ramp for Robert—a diabetic, autistic, and amputee man—to help him get into his home after his mother, Mrs. Stokes, struggled with the steep front steps. The project cost about $5,000, was funded with an anonymous donation and company-paid labor, and made Mrs. Stokes very happy. WKRG News 5
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Okoye Jabrayll Day, 23, a Mobile man with prior felony convictions, was sentenced to 60 months in prison on a gun charge stemming from a deadly home invasion on April 16th, 2024—officers reported that his actions during the break-in, including leaving the scene in a wheelchair and discarding a loaded Glock, led to a suspect being fatally shot and he will also serve a three-year term of supervised release with mental health evaluation. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Orange Beach coastal managers and conservation groups protect beach-nesting birds by placing posts and signs (and ropes) around nests at restoration project sites along Lower Perdido Islands. The teams monitor species such as snowy plovers, black skimmers, American oystercatchers, Wilson’s plovers and least terns during the nesting season from March through August to improve their survival rates. - ➤ The Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association is hosting a Meet the Candidates and Voter Registration rally tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 305 MAMGA Drive — the event offers voters a chance to meet candidates and register ahead of upcoming elections. WKRG News 5
- ➤ Alabama lawmakers plan to re‑file a bill next session that would let courts give the death penalty to adults and life without parole to offenders under 18 convicted of raping or sodomizing a child under 12—after the bill passed the House in 2025 but stalled in the Senate.
