- ➤ The 8th Annual Community Outreach and Back to School Bash will be held on July 19 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Reconciling Lives to the Kingdom Church Ministries on St. Stephens Road—offering free school uniform vouchers, school supplies and fun activities such as a talent show, contests with prizes, food and snow cones. - ➤ Billy's Gourmet Hot Dogs opened a new coastal shop at 3 Market St. in Orange Beach and will soon launch a drive-through near the new Gulf Shores High School on Foley Beach Express—offering a menu of unique hot dogs and house-made sausages while operating daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Gulf Coast Media
- ➤ On Monday, nearly 200 passengers flew out of Gulf Shores International Airport on a flight to St. Louis, adding to almost 10,000 Allegiant passengers since the first plane landed on May 21—airport director Jesse Fosnaugh said engineering and design firms are now planning a terminal remodel with improved roadside access, a larger gate, and more back area, and flights to Des Moines and Appleton are set to begin in the fall. - ➤ Foley will highlight its World War II legacy at the Baldwin County Historical Society’s summer meeting on July 19 at the historic Gift Horse Restaurant Banquet Hall in downtown Foley, where former Mayor Tim Russell and his wife Sandy will discuss Foley being named Alabama’s official American World War II Heritage City. Attendees will begin registration and social time at 1:30 p.m. and can later tour local exhibits at the Foley Railroad Museum (125 E. Laurel Ave) and the Holmes Medical Museum (111 W. Laurel Ave). - ➤ The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce unveiled the official artwork created by artist Rianna Turner for the 37th Jubilee Festival of Arts at a ceremony on July 11—she said the art, inspired by Mobile Bay jubilees, captures the festival’s joyful spirit. The festival scheduled for Oct. 18 and 19 in Lott Park in Daphne will feature more than 100 local artists, food vendors and live music. Gulf Coast Media

- ➤ Alabama is holding $68 million in federal funds that may affect Mobile County Public Schools, especially impacting ESL classes, after-school programs, STEM classes and summer school. Dr. Eric Mackey said local or state funds will cover 218 teacher jobs for now — but if Congress does not restore the funds, more job cuts could happen later. WKRG News 5
- ➤ At Orange Beach's Expect Excellence summer camp, about 30 kids learned basic cooking skills, kitchen safety and teamwork from local chefs—Jonathan Kastner and Krista Williams—during a week-long program that ended with a tasting event on July 10. - ➤ City crews will fill a large pothole outside Panda Express on Airport Boulevard early Wednesday to fix a dangerous gap that had been reported on social media, while workers finished repairing a turning lane near the Loop by Tuesday evening and marked a deeper sinkhole on Dauphinwood Lane for urgent drainage improvements.
