Terravanta Power Systems broke ground on its $74.5M geothermal manufacturing facility in Loxley on Thursday, creating 63 new jobs.

The 200,000 sqft facility will produce advanced components for geothermal energy and boost the local industrial sector (local officials said).

Students from Baldwin Preparatory Academy earned Skill Point Certificates at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta from June 1 to 5 (the certificates validate career readiness and technical skills), bolstering their future job prospects.

Work began Thursday near Cedar Point on a 50-acre oyster restoration project using 4,600 tons of limestone as cultch material provided by Vulcan Materials & partners.

The project aims to rebuild oyster reefs to support marine life and local fisheries, with harvesting expected in two to three years.
