  • Since 2003, the McCarron Cousins in Mobile have met monthly at Roshell’s Restaurant in the Crichton area to keep their family tradition alive after the loss of matriarch Sadie Betancourt. The group, which now includes state Rep. Margie Wilcox and spans five generations, met on a recent Friday — the March lunch had 14 relatives including a new baby — showing that their close kinship endures.  1819 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A new Netflix documentary 'Trainwreck: Poop Cruise' recounts how a 2013 Carnival Triumph cruise from Galveston turned disastrous after an engine room fire led to overflowing toilets and a rescue mission, with the ship docking in Mobile on February 14th, 2013 at 9:20 p.m.—passengers cheered the safe arrival amid chaos. An investigation later found the incident was preventable, and the ship—renamed Carnival Sunrise—had struck a vessel on April 3rd, 2012, causing one fatality.  1819 News
