- ➤ Mobile Police responded to a shooting near Springhill Avenue and Catherine Street on June 29 at about 2:15 a.m.—four people in a car were shot by a passing vehicle and later taken to a local hospital. UTV 44
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ MOB Music Fest 2025 will be held in downtown Mobile from July 11 to 13 starting at 5 p.m. on Friday at Cathedral Square on Dauphin Street and The Temple Downtown at 300 Conti Street — the free event will feature local acts, a tribute to Jimmy Buffett by Shakers of Salt, food trucks and a Kid Zone. 1819 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State lawmakers introduced over 80 bills to regulate hemp sales, and the new House Bill 445 will take effect July 1, making many hemp products illegal. Local store owner Jennifer Boozer of CannaBama said sales are down more than 25% since the bill was signed—users like Brooks Whitehead may face arrest if they rely on these products for their health. Will Barfoot, who helped pass the DEI ban last October, said the law is common sense because it teaches children full history without hurting anyone—he stressed that the bill will work only if it is enforced properly and noted that even some critics admitted it made good sense after reading it. 1819 News
