COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Clotilda Descendants Association will host its combined Landing Event and Ancestor Festival from July 3 to July 6 in Mobile to honor the legacy of Clotilda survivors and Africatown. The weekend will feature an environmental justice summit led by Ramsey Sprague and a reception with keynote speaker Jamelle Bouie — both set to address historical and current community challenges.  UTV 44

CRIME NEWS

  • Mobile police investigated a Monday morning stabbing at about 4:30 a.m. on the 300 block of Gaston Street—officers found one man dead after an altercation with another man—and will release his name after his family is notified.  AL.com
  • The Mobile Sheriff’s Office reported on June 21 that a gas station manager shot a 17-year-old during an attempted robbery at Lucky 7 on St. Stephens Road in Prichard — the teen, who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest while fleeing the scene, was pronounced dead and detectives are reviewing video from a similar incident on June 9.  UTV 44

CULTURE NEWS

  • Shark Fest returns to the Gulf State Park Saltwater Fishing Pier from June 26 to 28 with live shark dissections, displays of shark bones and teeth, and interactive exhibits for families (face painting, crafts, and a live ray in the touch tank). The event will run from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 26 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 27 and 28 with free parking and $5 admission.  Gulf Coast Media

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The City of Mobile launched the Financial Empowerment Blueprint to help residents build wealth through improved savings, credit steps, and better money education. City leaders developed the plan with local voices—nonprofits, business owners, and institutions—and it will guide upcoming job training and financial literacy programs.  The Mobile Rundown
