- ➤ USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park will host an Independence Day celebration on July 4 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with live music by Tip Tops and Fly By Radio plus fireworks at 9, interactive games, food trucks, and parking costing $10 for cars and $30 for RVs. 1819 News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Wednesday morning, officers responded at approximately 7:31 a.m. to a crash at I-10 and Highway 90 where one vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree, killing driver Taylor Goff (33) while the other driver was not hurt. AL.com
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ James Dean 'Jimmy' Bulger (60) was convicted of theft by deception and financial exploitation for stealing $8.4 million from an elderly man over more than two years; he used the funds to buy luxury vehicles, designer goods, and build an 8,000 square foot mansion while his sentencing is set for July 21. - ➤ Mobile County authorities arrested Timothy Taylor (38) of Wilmer after he allegedly stole a white pickup truck and led law enforcement on a chase that began on Moffett Road and ended when he ran on foot. WKRG News 5
- ➤ Taras Kosmirak, a Ukrainian war refugee 35 years old, pleaded guilty this week for trying to move a Mobile woman to Brooklyn for prostitution—he was caught at a Gulf Shores pick-up at 6:45 p.m. on March 14 and two others face human trafficking charges in Baldwin County. 1819 News

- ➤ Yellow-billed cuckoos are seen in local forests during summer and are known as rain crows because their call comes before rain. Scientists and bird groups—working with the University of South Alabama—are tagging the birds and testing their DNA to learn more about their migration and nesting habits. AL.com
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ After years of legal gridlock and court battles, the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission announced that investigative hearings can proceed so that patients may access medical marijuana this Fall. Foley-based Specialty Medical Products and Oscity Labs received an integrated facility license and Foley-based Green Health Laboratories was given a lab license — with former justice Bernard Harwood set to oversee the hearings.
