  • A massive fire engulfed a vacant two-story apartment building in Chickasaw Sunday night on Viaduct Road—Mobile Fire-Rescue, Chickasaw Fire Rescue and Prichard Fire Rescue responded to the blaze.  WKRG News 5
  • A 21-year-old Louisiana man died after his motorcycle struck another early Sunday morning in south Alabama, with emergency crews taking him first to Andalusia Health and then to a Florida hospital in Fort Walton Beach — the crash occurred at about 1:50 a.m. on Covington County 102 near Alabama 137, 10 miles south of Andalusia.  AL.com
  • Mobile PD is searching for a missing boater in Bayou Sara after a Sunday evening boating accident — ALEA is handling the accident investigation.  NBC 15

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Life of Chuck, a sentimental film based on a Stephen King novella directed by Mike Flanagan, is premiering now through June 19 at the Crescent Theater in downtown Mobile. It was filmed in Mobile, Fairhope, Daphne, Bay Minette, Spanish Fort + Foley so viewers will recognize local sites throughout the movie.  1819 News
  • Each Sunday, Worship on the Water brings churchgoers to Flora-Bama for 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services — Pastor Ben Ragsdale, who has been in ministry for 23 years, leads the service that welcomes all and supports outreach programs for the homeless, addicted and troubled youth.  1819 News

  • Edward F. Poolos was named the new director of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management on June 13 when the state commission chose him to replace Lance LeFleur, who retired in May after 15 years—Poolos served eight years as deputy commissioner at the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources—and his start date is yet to be set.  AL.com
