COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Feeding the Gulf Coast received a $15,000 grant from No Kid Hungry to support its Rural Non-Congregate Programs that feed nearly 1,300 children in rural areas such as Atmore, Baldwin County, Flomaton, and Brewton — the program has grown quickly with some sites increasing from 100 to 300 kids in just two weeks.  UTV 44

CRIME NEWS

  • FBI Mobile and its partners arrested at least 46 individuals in immigration enforcement operations across Mobile and Baldwin counties this week, with several suspects carrying a criminal history such as DUI, hit-and-run, and domestic violence with a deadly weapon.  UTV 44
  • The Mobile Police Department investigated a shooting near Rickarby Park on Thursday afternoon that left one man dead—authorities say the incident is under further review.  Lagniappe Daily
  • On Wednesday, just before midnight, police responded to the Murphy Gas Station off Highway 90 in Tillmans Corner when 31‐year‐old Brett Kraft, Jr. climbed onto the building with a machete—he threw urine at emergency personnel and injured an officer who was taken to hospital.  UTV 44

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mobile Bay Pastors held their second annual worship event at Saenger Theatre on June 1 at 7 p.m.—less than two weeks after a fatal shooting at a dance recital, about 100 pastors gathered to celebrate Jesus and stand united while strong security was in place.  1819 News
  • Friday night's June Art Walk in downtown Mobile featured extra security measures including police presence and strategically placed orange bollards—organizers and local business owners said these steps were needed amid recent public safety concerns. Police Chief William Jackson confirmed that officers will secure today’s No Kings protest at noon outside Government Plaza.  NBC 15

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Housing Finance Authority selected four affordable housing developments in Mobile today that will add 218 new units—with over $81.7 million in total investment from city, federal, and private sources. Mayor Stimpson and local partners plan to use these projects to improve affordable housing in historic neighborhoods.  UTV 44
  • After a yearlong postponement, city election candidate qualification is open from June 10 to 5 p.m. on June 24, and residents must file a Statement of Candidacy & Statement of Economic Interests form with the city clerk.
