- ➤ Mobile police arrested 19-year-old Charles Frazier-McKinley on Friday after he allegedly punched an elderly man multiple times following a motorcycle crash on Schillinger Road South and Hitt Road at 9:02 a.m. Thursday—officers charged him with elderly abuse while the injured man was taken to the hospital for serious treatment. 1819 News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Auburn University biologist Jimmy Stiles said Alabama has six venomous snake species including three rattlesnakes—the small pygmy found mainly in Mobile and Baldwin counties, the timber common in rural areas, and the eastern diamondback known as North America’s largest venomous snake facing decline from habitat loss and human threats. The snakes show distinct sizes and behaviors that call for caution when encountered in their natural habitats. AL.com
- ➤ A $15.1 million dredging project is underway at Langan Lake led by Mayor Sandy Stimpson and city council vice president Gina Gregory with Hughes Companies set to remove 225,000 cubic yards of sediment over 18 months. The RESTORE Act project will improve water quality—eradicate invasive species and make the lake accessible for kayaks and canoes. 1819 News
