CRIME NEWS

  • A 27-year-old man faces charges for murder and first-degree assault after he shot and killed a man—he also injured another during a Sunday night dance recital at Saenger Theatre in Mobile.  Lagniappe Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hurricane season began on June 1 and will last until Nov. 30, and NOAA said there will be 12 to 19 named storms, six to 10 hurricanes and three to five major hurricanes. Forecasters said there is a 60 percent chance the season will be more active than normal — a risk that may impact our Gulf Coast.  AL.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Construction at Mobile International Airport is speeding up as the new terminal roof is finished and glass is being installed for a building that will open in 2026 — it will have five gates, a parking garage, and a new access road off Perimeter Road. At Mobile Regional Airport, parking rates changed on June 2 with long-term parking at $10 per day and short-term at $12 per day.  Gulf Coast Media
  • The U.S. Navy’s former nuclear carrier USS Enterprise will be dismantled on a concrete dry-dock at the M.A.R.R.S. Mobile facility—NorthStar Marine Dismantlement won a half-billion-dollar contract and plans to finish the work by the end of 2029. Local leaders are set to meet with the project team as the Mobile Chamber, which had opposed the plan, awaits more details.  AL.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new digital tool named CredibleMind—developed by state and local public health officials—offers free, personalized mental health support using AI to match users with resources on a smartphone or computer.   • Lexus of Mobile will host the MCI Par 3 Golf Tournament at Magnolia Grove at 7001 Magnolia Grove Pkwy on Thursday, June 12.
