Local officials say the project will create jobs and expand the current 700,000 square feet of facilities — a move tied to the park’s close link to Mobile's Container Port 12 miles away — as the logistics hub grows. - ➤ Gradrick Overstreet Jr. was arrested Wednesday on charges of felony murder, attempted murder and first-degree robbery after a dispute at a graduation party in Mount Vernon turned violent—investigators say an argument in a cul-de-sac between 19-year-old Jaylon Rivers and a juvenile escalated to gunfire that killed Rivers while the juvenile now faces charges of felony murder and robbery. - ➤ A 17-year-old Fairhope student was shot in the neck at a home on Rock Creek Parkway on Saturday night just before 8 o’clock—she was quickly taken to University Hospital in Mobile where she remains in the trauma ICU while police continue questioning teenagers from a gathering that was moving toward a party. - ➤ State Sen. Steve Livingston and Rep. Chris Pringle said Alabama will keep its current congressional map for the rest of the decade unless a favorable ruling on appeal lets the state revert to a previous plan approved in 2023. The lawmakers agreed not to redraw a map until after the 2030 census — the status quo remains as litigation continues. 1819 News
- ➤ Daphne City Council approved a $4,000 contract with Wildlife Solutions Inc. on May 19 after about 30 Olde Towne residents raised concerns about several coyote sightings that some linked to missing pets—Mayor Robin LeJeune said professional wildlife control will arrive in the coming weeks to address the issue.
