- ➤ On Memorial Day, May 25, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation brought a traveling exhibit featuring a 25-foot steel beam from the World Trade Center to Battleship Park. - ➤ University of South Alabama bought a 384-bed apartment complex ($40M) to meet rising student housing needs. Renovations to the complex (SouthPaw Village) will add 1,008 beds, increasing on-campus housing to 3,959 and serving nearly 3,400 fall applicants. AL.com
- ➤ Short the Squirrel, a literacy nonprofit, has reached over 200,000 children by providing bilingual booklets at courts, banks and schools; the program partners with local organizations to host career expos where elementary students explore various job paths (including Touch-a-Truck events). HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mobile County EMS launched a new blood transfusion program on Monday morning with specially equipped ambulances. Paramedics performed the first transfusion at 11 a.m. and saved three patients in the first 36 hours by giving blood before hospital care. NBC 15
- ➤ The Alabama Board of Medical Examiners warned doctors today against prescribing research-grade peptides that lack FDA approval because these substances pose unknown risks and are not legally authorized - physicians must only use federally approved prescription products. 1819 News

- ➤ Legendary Mobile high school coach Terry Curtis was named executive director of the Mobile Baldwin Athletic Partnership on Wednesday. The former coach will mentor public school athletes and strengthen local sports programs under Senior Bowl Charities after a 52-year career. AL.com

- ➤ Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer received a contract extension through Jan. 31, 2033 that includes a $2 million raise and a buyout clause exceeding $60 million; the move was announced at SEC spring meetings in Miramar Beach, Florida.
