CRIME NEWS

  • Mobile County Sheriff's Office arrested Demetrius Andrews after a shooting on Baldwin Dr. in Prichard early Friday morning—witness accounts and surveillance video led to his identification—and he was charged with Assault 1st while the victim remained in serious condition.  NBC 15
  • A person was hospitalized after a shooting in Fairhope at the Rock Creek subdivision on Saturday — witnesses said the victim was taken to a hospital by helicopter while Fairhope PD investigated the incident.  UTV 44

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, May 25, the Sunday Sunset Concert brings local band Justin Touchette and The Way to perform at Fort Gaines on Dauphin Island—admission is $5 for adults and free for children under 12 as the series runs monthly through October 12. Music starts two hours before sunset, inviting residents to enjoy a local summer tradition.  1819 News

  • State Sen. Greg Albritton+ chairman of the Senate General Fund budget committee announced he launched a re-election campaign for District 22 in 2026. His district covers Escambia and Washington Counties+ parts of Baldwin and Mobile Counties.  1819 News
  • City officials removed a homemade houseboat from Dog River Friday evening as part of an ongoing effort to clear old boats and debris from local waterways—this marks the 14th vessel taken out since the program started in March last year with a grant from NOAA.  WKRG News 5
  • Local election campaigns have begun with candidates like Muscle Shoals mayoral hopeful Billy Hudson, city council candidate Scott Hunter, and Public Service Commissioner contender Brent Woodall—who will retire from his assistant district attorney job this summer—touring local events ahead of the August elections.
