- ➤ City-operated pools and splash pads in Mobile are opening today ahead of the Memorial Day holiday; splash pads will run Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Aug. 31 and pools will be open on the same schedule until Aug. 1 then rotate on Saturdays from Aug. 2 to 30 (the city is also offering summer swim lessons). - ➤ Mobile Police Department officers arrested three individuals after a drug bust on May 23 at a home in the 1000 block of McRae Avenue—officers found cocaine, meth, marijuana, synthetic marijuana, 35,000 fentanyl pills and three guns. WKRG News 5
- ➤ An Atmore man was arrested this week on animal cruelty charges after he allegedly killed a chihuahua by placing it in his oven — deputies reported the dog suffered severe burn injuries when they arrived at the scene. 1819 News
- ➤ Mobile police arrested a juvenile boy in connection with a shooting at Rich Park on May 15 that injured one man and hit unintended targets (including Matthew Delaney, who was released from the hospital and is staying with a relative) and he will be taken to Metro Jail. WKRG News 5

- ➤ The US Geological Survey recorded a 3.1M earthquake off the coast of Gulf Shores on Friday at 2:41 p.m.—the quake hit 71.1 miles from shore at a depth of 6.2 miles with no tsunami watch issued. 1819 News
- ➤ Mobile Baykeeper said the mud dumped by a ship channel project is hurting the bay’s fish, oysters, and shrimp by removing seagrass and clearing ocean beds. The group asked Congress to ban the dumping under the Water Resources Development Act of 2026—warning that 90 million cubic yards of sediment over 20 years will cover the bay—while local fishermen worry about their jobs. - ➤ Four Mobile County residents graduated from the Mental Health Court on Thursday. The program helps people with serious mental illness avoid jail and has saved more than $220,000 in costs while 34 participants remain enrolled. NBC 15
- ➤ The Mobile City Council will consider extending TransDev’s 90-day contract to operate the WAVE Transit system on Tuesday—if approved, the extension will run until September 30th, and the current contract ends on June 30th as the city reviews its transit service. UTV 44
