- ➤ Allegiant Flight 1403 from Knoxville landed on May 21 at Gulf Shores International Airport amid water cannons and cheering crowds—marking the first commercial flight on the Alabama Gulf Coast after decades of planning. The new service will launch future flights connecting Gulf Shores with cities like Cincinnati, St. Louis, Houston, and more. AL.com

- ➤ City officials broke ground Wednesday on a $237 million Mobile Arena that will replace the old civic center. The new arena will host concerts, sports, and other events and vertical construction will begin in late August — it is set to be completed by Mardi Gras 2027. WKRG News 5
