- ➤ The EPA announced up to $50 million in grants for projects led by farmers in the Gulf of Mexico watershed. - ➤ 68 Ventures Bowl will host a girls varsity flag football tournament for Mobile and Baldwin county teams in July at the Mobile County Sportsplex. - ➤ After retiring from BCBE schools this year, longtime Baldwin County coach Mike Ebert will join Snook Christian as associate athletic director for the 2026-27 school year, where he will coach baseball and help with the football program on Highway 59 (continuing his 30-year legacy in the community). - ➤ At Mobile’s Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove, Vestavia Hills clinched its second straight Class 7A boys state golf title with a 6-under 282 score on Tuesday while Alabama Christian senior Julie Waldo earned her third girls title with a 136 total at Dothan — additional class champions were crowned statewide. - ➤ At Hoover High School on Tuesday, May 12, Spain Park sophomore JD Thompson won the AHSAA State Decathlon with 6,250 points while Auburn’s Katharine Lee claimed the Heptathlon title with 4,857 points (56 boys and 44 girls competed). AL.com
- ➤ Twenty teams in regional softball tournaments advanced to next week's state championship tournament.
