  • Cookie Fix Fairhope opened its doors on Thursday, April 20 at 12 N. Section Street and quickly attracted locals lining the street before 10AM, with the first 100 customers receiving a free chocolate chip cookie (a welcome treat planned by local owner Anna Catherine Smith).  The Mobile Rundown
  • Southern Company earned $1.4 billion in Q1 2026 and saw an 8% revenue increase, with $8.4 billion in operating revenue compared to $7.8 billion last year. The company, which serves nine million customers, said it will invest in infrastructure to meet growing demand & keep rates stable.  1819 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Wildlife Federation reopened the renovated Delta & Bay Conservation Center in Spanish Fort today after a yearlong closure. The 70-acre site now features improved trails, a conference center and interactive conservation programs with free admission through May 2.  Gulf Coast Media

  • Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis announced that new signage will be installed across Lower Dauphin to help visitors navigate the city following Amtrak Mardi Gras Service's celebration of its 100,000th passenger and upcoming visits from American Cruise Lines.  The Mobile Rundown

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • An iconic Egyptian Revival building built ca. 1921 and used as an event space for local weddings and functions is for sale at $6.9M in downtown Mobile (351 St. Francis St.). Developers may repurpose the 58,000 sqft venue for condos, a boutique hotel, or dining and retail space.  AL.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Baldwin County golfers earned spots in Sub-State tournaments after sectional wins + runner-up finishes across grades from 5A to 7A in Daphne, Fairhope, Spanish Fort, Gulf Shores, Elberta, St. Michael’s, and Orange Beach. The next competitions in Tuscaloosa are set for May 4-5.  Gulf Coast Media
  • Deontae Lawson, a Mobile native who led the Tide defense, has signed with an NFL team + joining other undrafted Alabama players who are proving that local talent makes a mark in the league.  AL.com
  • Mobile’s new professional hockey team was awarded by Zawyer Sports and Entertainment in September 2025 and will play at the new Mobile Arena in early 2027. Trademark filings (including the Mysticks identity) indicate the team may revive the name from its former ECHL days amid a fan naming contest.  NBC 15
  • The Mobile Sports Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2026 featuring coach Joe Niland and athletes Derrick Coleman, Derrick Burroughs and Eric Yelding. The induction ceremony will be held June 16 at the Mitchell Center (permanent display planned at RSA Battle House Tower).  AL.com
