- ➤ Deann Servos, executive director of Spanish Fort's Prodisee Pantry, received the Aubrey Green Humanitarian Award from the Lions Clubs of Alabama in Montgomery after being selected from 187 nominees by the Fairhope Lions Club; she has led the food bank serving over 11,000 Baldwin County residents since 2004. - ➤ Flora-Bama will host the 2025 Mullet Toss this weekend with about 30,000 people expected to join the interstate competition and beach party. The event was inspired 39 years ago by a cow chip throw seen by owner Joe Gilchrist — proceeds will aid local charities and leftover fish will feed zoo animals. 1819 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Blakeley State Park will offer one-hour cruises on May 9 to view the SS United States as it prepares to become a man-made reef, with local historian John Sledge guiding tours from the Mobile Convention Center dock — he will explain the ship’s history. After the cruises, the park will host live music by local cover band High Cotton at 6:30 p.m. — visitors should bring chairs for the outdoor concert. WKRG News 5

- ➤ The Baldwin County Highway Department says a portion of CR 68 between CR 65 and CR 71 N is closed and will remain so until 5 p.m. on May 2 while a box culvert is installed to boost capacity and stop overtopping during storms — drivers must use the detour. WKRG News 5

- ➤ No. 18 Alabama baseball swept Missouri this weekend by winning three games with scores of 7-5, 7-3 and 12-1, boosting their record to 35-10 and 12-9 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide will travel to Vanderbilt for a weekend series starting Friday at 6 p.m. 1819 News
- ➤ Four Alabama football players were selected on Saturday during the NFL Draft — Malachi Moore went to the New York Jets at No. 130, Que Robinson to the Denver Broncos at No. 134, Robbie Ouzts to the Seattle Seahawks at No. 175, and Tim Smith to the Indianapolis Colts at No. 190 — as the Crimson Tide finished with seven draftees for the 14th straight year. 1819 News
