- ➤ Hundreds of protestors gathered on Saturday in downtown Mobile for the 'No Kings' protest in front of Government Plaza + drawing participants from local communities and as far away as three hours despite it being a holiday weekend. Lagniappe Daily
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Mobile Police responded to a shooting on April 19th just before 3:30 p.m. at N. Florida Street when they found a woman injured by a gunshot in the Publix parking lot — officers later took a man into custody after it was found he demanded money and a struggle led to the shot. UTV 44
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Alabama Wildlife Federation won a $500,000 bid for the lease with an option to buy the 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center in Spanish Fort—pending approval by the state conservation commissioner—and plans to use the 70-acre site to expand outdoor education and public recreation with a 10-year lease option to purchase for $8.5 million. 1819 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Mobile City Council will meet soon to consider changing the ordinance that fines residents for misusing their garbage cans. The proposed changes may lower penalties and modify enforcement methods — council members will vote on the new rules in an upcoming session. Lagniappe Daily
- ➤ Amid heavy Good Friday traffic in downtown Mobile, many locals are using Lime scooters as a fast way to get around—riding with the flow of traffic to avoid congestion. Mobile police say riders must be 18, ride with traffic, avoid sidewalks, yield to pedestrians, and not block sidewalks—rules set to keep everyone safe. UTV 44
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Frankie Ferguson, a snake remover from Silverhill with over 20 years of experience, was bitten on his thumb by a cottonmouth while handling a snake at Gulf Shores and received 16 vials of antivenom along with antibiotics. He warned residents to let experts remove snakes instead of handling them on their own — warmer weather makes snake activity higher. 1819 News
