  • A Mobile man (who shot and killed another man during a crawfish boil in 2022) has been convicted of murder (according to the Mobile County District Attorney's Office).  Lagniappe Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • Dog River Clearwater Revival will host the 10th Annual Dog River Mudbottom Music Festival on May 4 from 1-6 p.m. at Bender Point — the event will feature live acts such as Jimmy Hall and Friends, Will Kimbrough and Friends, and Red and The Revelers to raise funds for improving public access and water quality on Dog River.  UTV 44

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Vigor High School seniors earned over $16.2 million in scholarships+all seniors applied to college+officials said offers were still rolling in.  WKRG News 5

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • During its eighth week, the Alabama Legislature met three times and passed six pro-military bills, a teacher workman’s compensation act, a community pharmacy relief bill and a tax credit to support rural hospitals while leaving nine legislative days remaining.   • Indivisible Mobile will hold a protest rally today from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Government Plaza before moving to Mardi Gras Park — the event marks the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution.  NBC 15

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Alabama WIC Program has launched the new WICShopper app today to help participants track benefits, scan approved product barcodes, and locate nearby clinics and stores—improving access for over 110,000 families across 67 counties. This free app is designed to also offer healthy recipes and nutrition education to support WIC participants.  UTV 44

  • Due to the success of its first run, the Tacos & Tequila Festival will return to Robertsdale on May 3rd and May 4th—organizers moved the stage under the pavilion and added an after-party on Saturday night at the Baldwin County Fairgrounds.
