  • On April 6, nearly 12 inches of rain hit Daphne’s Lake Forest neighborhood, damaging 40 homes and prompting a state of emergency. Local leaders and the LFPOA board organized a donation drive at their clubhouse while residents will wait 30 to 90 days for federal aid.  Gulf Coast Media
  • NBC 15 will salute Col. John Kilpatrick tonight as he is honored for his 10 years in the Marine Corps Reserve and 28 years in the Army Reserve; he now leads Mobile's Vets Recover program (which offers therapy and counseling for veterans).  NBC 15

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A driver lost control on Sunday night near Wilmer along Highway 158, causing a crash that killed Mobile firefighter Marcine Crawford of the Chosen Few Motorcycle Club and Prichard's Kristopher Dotson of the Skreet Runnaz while leaving rider Kevin Nettles seriously injured—local bikers displayed signs urging distracted drivers to slow down—and the accident has raised calls for safer roads.  UTV 44
  • A Mobile woman, Melissa B. Phillips, 45, died when she was struck by a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Antoine L. Eager II, 20, at 10:06 p.m. Saturday, April 12—on Alabama 163 near the 1 mile marker about two miles south of Mobile.  NBC 15

CULTURE NEWS

  • Logan Lane, named Best Local Actor in Best of Baldwin 2025, has stepped from the stage to direct Foley High School's production of The Music Man. The musical will be shown at the Foley Civic Center on April 25—26 at 6:30 p.m. and on April 27 at 1:30 p.m. with tickets available by card only at the door.  Gulf Coast Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jacob Warner from Baldwin County Virtual School earned a perfect 36 on the ACT—the first in school history—and plans to study electrical engineering with a focus on nanotechnology and sustainable energy after high school. He achieved this score on his second attempt with only minor review of his previous test mistakes.  Gulf Coast Media
  • The Senate Education Policy committee passed Senate Bill 278 on Wednesday to let local boards allow K-12 students to attend off-campus religious instruction for elective credit. The bill, introduced by State Sen. Shay Shelnutt, uses private funds so schools do not lose core subject time — it will also require safe round-trip transportation and strict attendance records.  1819 News

  • North Baldwin Infirmary Laboratory will celebrate Medical Laboratory Professionals Week from April 21st to 25th — hosting themed events, community outreach, and a donation drive for Ecumenical Ministries of Bay Minette.
