  • Mobile County’s largest Easter egg hunt will take place on Saturday, April 19 with 8,000 toy or candy-filled eggs hidden across three parks for children in two age groups. Attendees will enjoy music plus park amenities including playgrounds, lawn games, face painting and an Easter Bunny photo area while food is available for purchase from vendors.  UTV 44

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Mobile firefighter Marcine Crawford Jr.—a driver for Engine 7 with nearly a decade of service—died on Sunday in a motorcycle accident near Wilmer and is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and other family members with memorial details to be shared later.  AL.com

  • Mobile-based frozen treat brand Frios has 108 franchises and opened 10 locations this year; it will add 25 new sites by year's end using its quick-start model + inviting community-minded entrepreneurs for expansion in cities like Houston, Austin and New Orleans. This nationwide plan builds on the brand’s growing success in 2025.  AL.com

  • Mobile police are searching for 19-year-old Tristen Crawford — who has a medical condition and was last seen on the 4500 block of Schimpfs Lane wearing blue jeans, black shoes and a black shirt with gold designs — as officials work to ensure his safety.  WKRG News 5

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fairhope artist Hannah Legg got a Visual Artist Award from the Mobile Arts Council last week at the 20th-Annual Artys Award ceremony on April 9 for her work in murals, illustrations and design. Born in England and raised in Fairhope, Legg runs her own business and will continue using her art to connect communities across Baldwin County—she said the honor inspires her future projects.  Gulf Coast Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mobile County public notices show that multiple abandoned vehicle auctions are set for May at different locations in Mobile and Saraland if not redeemed—several public works bids are also open with pre-bid meetings for school repairs and road projects that require cash or bond guarantees and online registration. Bidding and auction dates run from May through June, and detailed registration requirements apply.  The Call News
  • State Rep. Barbara Drummond of Mobile sponsored a bill to strengthen the ban on vape sales to minors and the House approved HB8 with an 89-9 vote Tuesday; the bill will create fees and penalties for distributors and now moves to the Senate for review—Drummond said it aims to boost enforcement and protect children. The bill will generate funds for enforcement efforts and establish a model vaping awareness program.  AL.com
  • Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced on Tuesday afternoon that American Cruise Lines will call on Mobile four times in 2026 with its ship the American Symphony—part of an eight-day Gulf Coast cruise that departs New Orleans on March 1. The cruise season will also have the American Symphony and Carnival Spirit dock on March 22 as city officials complete improvements like the new gangway at the port.  UTV 44
