COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mobile City Council will vote next week on a rezoning plan for a new affordable senior community on Knollwood Drive as GK Land Holdings plans to build 60 townhomes for residents 55 and older. Residents worry that changing the area from single-family to multi-family zoning might increase traffic and flood risks—issues prompting a planned traffic study and runoff review.  WKRG News 5

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The MAWSS board voted on Monday to begin a plan to partially reopen Big Creek Lake by offering boat rentals from a private partner—while still banning outside boats—to allow fishing five days a week and expanded shoreline access.
