- ➤ South Alabama Land Trust will host its 15th Bald Eagle Bash on Saturday, April 26 from 4-7 p.m. at the Tonsmeire Weeks Bay Resource Center in Fairhope where guests will enjoy Gulf shrimp dishes, a low country shrimp boil, craft beer, and live music; proceeds will support coastal conservation. - ➤ Carnival Cruise Line announced it will resume year-round sailings from Mobile so locals can enjoy cruise vacations at any time, and the service is expected to boost tourism in the Port City. Lagniappe Daily

- ➤ Dog River Clearwater Revival's MudBottom Revival Music Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary on May 4 from 1-6 p.m. at Bender Point in Mobile, featuring live performances by Jimmy Hall and Friends, Will Kimbrough and Friends, and Red and the Revelers with proceeds set to benefit DRCR efforts to improve water quality and public access on Dog River. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The IRS postponed the federal tax deadline for Alabama residents and businesses to May 1 because of disaster relief following Hurricane Helene. Federal tax returns and extensions due in March and April 2025 may be filed later—payments from before the storm are not eligible and state taxes remain due on April 15. AL.com
- ➤ Gov. Ivey signed the Houston Hunter Act on Monday when she enacted SB40 to allow gun owners to voluntarily surrender firearms if they feel suicidal—by turning them over to licensed dealers or law enforcement for a set hold period. The law, named after Army veteran Houston Tumlin and Marine veteran Hunter Whitley who died by suicide, will take effect June 1 to support veteran suicide prevention. AL.com

- ➤ Over 420 athletes from more than 40 Mobile schools will compete in the Mobile Area Special Olympics Track and Field Competition at Davidson High School on Friday, April 18 — the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a torch run and include races, relays, wheelchair events, and field competitions. - ➤ Alabama Public Television (APT) announced on April 4 that it will expand its high school football coverage to include regular season and playoff games, featuring 16 contests to reach nearly every home in the state.
