- ➤ Mobile police arrested 18 people in connection with Operation Azalea Trail—a three-month investigation that ended on March 27 while five suspects remain wanted—after receiving complaints about illegal drug activity along Azalea Road. 1819 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Tour operators in Mobile are offering cruise-bys for a close view of the SS United States, which is docked and being stripped for removal of hazards & conversion into the world’s largest artificial reef. The ship will remain at the Port of Mobile for six to 12 months while contractors prepare it for sinking offshore and the planned museum is built ashore. 1819 News

- ➤ On Saturday, the U.S. Navy christened the USNS Billy Frank Jr. T-ATS 11 at Austal USA in Mobile when William Frank III spoke to honor his father's legacy and ship sponsor Peggen Frank broke a bottle of sparkling wine on the bow. The Navajo-class vessel will help with towing, rescue, salvage, humanitarian aid, oil spill response — and surveillance. 1819 News
