- ➤ The South Alabama Veterans Council will host a flag-raising ceremony at Battleship Memorial Park on March 29 at 7 a.m. to honor Vietnam veterans and feature 2025 Veteran of the Year U.S. Army Col. Patrick Downing, Ret. The event will raise flags to half-staff (to remember those who died or went missing during Vietnam) and (to mark the lasting service of veterans in our community). 1819 News
- ➤ Captain Mike Vinik piloted his tugboat Vinik 6 to tow the historic SS United States from Philadelphia to the Port of Mobile—arriving five days ahead of schedule on March 3rd. Local boat workers now plan remediation before the former liner is transformed into an artificial reef. 1819 News

- ➤ The Daphne Police Department is asking the public for help to locate Kathleen Lazarek—a 64-year-old woman with possible impaired judgement who was last seen on March 15 at about 8:28pm near Vermell Cir in Daphne. NBC 15

- ➤ Attorney General Steve Marshall criticized Gov. Kay Ivey for commuting convicted murderer Robin 'Rocky' Meyers' death sentence last month — he argued that using modern DNA standards on a 1991 case ignores the differences in forensic evidence available then. 1819 News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Children’s of Alabama is named one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women 2025—one of only nine employers in the state—and has secured a $64,000 grant from State Farm to support its URKEYS2DRV Teen Driver Safety Summits that educate junior high and high school students about safe driving.
