  • Rapahope has opened a second location near the hospital to support children battling cancer and their families in Mobile. The nonprofit plans to expand camp programs, year-round activities, and emotional support with more room for staff and volunteers.  NBC 15

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced winners of the 2026 Outdoor Alabama Photo Contest today — featuring photos from Baldwin County and the Gulf Coast that capture local wildlife, plants and scenic views; winning photographers will receive prize packs and have work featured in a traveling exhibit.  Gulf Coast Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Robertsdale High School students designed and installed new landscaping in front of the Loxley COS building on March 4 for board meetings, partnering with BCBE Grounds and Maintenance (supported by Flowerwood Nursery). The project allowed CTE agriculture students to gain hands-on skills.  Gulf Coast Media
  • Alabama Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate was honored as Friend of the Year at the Alabama School Nutrition Association annual meeting. He praised school nutrition staff for supporting the Farm to School Incentive Program that connects local farmers with school cafeterias.  Gulf Coast Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mobile Co. EMA announces a training event on Saturday, March 14 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Mary G. Montgomery High School (near MGM).  NBC 15
  • A proposed amendment to the 2023 Project Ramp agreement with Airbus will be considered by Mobile City Council on Tuesday, and it would add the ACDC parcel to count toward job and investment targets + leave existing public incentive commitments unchanged.  NBC 15

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local boating safety expert Gail R. Kulp urges boaters to wear properly fitting life jackets, noting two fishermen recently reached shore safely after their boat capsized on Dog River — a warning as statistics show most drownings occur when life jackets are not worn.  Gulf Coast Media

  • Over the weekend, Baldwin County athletes earned multiple gold medals and podium finishes at the Saraland Invitational track and field meet in Saraland. Standout performers from Gulf Shores, Foley and Fairhope delivered strong times in sprints, distance races and field events.  Gulf Coast Media
  • South Alabama Football announced its 2026 schedule on Friday, featuring 12 games with six home contests at Hancock Whitney Stadium and a trip to Kentucky on Sept. 26 (SEC matchup). The Jaguars will open against Southeastern Louisiana on Sept. 5 and host Troy on Nov. 14.  UTV 44
