  • The 3rd annual Rubber Ducky Regatta is scheduled for March 21 at OWA Parks & Resort, featuring a duck race with up to 10,000 rubber ducks, family games, and prizes while supporting Ronald McDonald House of Mobile and over 600 local families.  Gulf Coast Media

  • Austal USA and Poarch Band of Creek Indians signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Friday, Feb. 27 to expand regional shipbuilding capacity. The agreement will support Austal’s new Module Manufacturing Facility and planned workforce development programs, strengthening supply chains + creating local jobs.  UTV 44

  • The Mobile Arts Council is launching two new nature exhibits at MAC Gallery from March 4 to March 28 that showcase mixed media and botanical art inspired by local landscapes + a joint reception will be held during LoDa ArtWalk on March 13 from 6 to 9 p.m.  The Mobile Rundown
  • Yawdie at 117 W. Orange Ave in downtown Foley offers authentic Jamaican cuisine by Duane Besentie, who planned the venture for nearly two years. The vibrant restaurant serves oxtails, jerk chicken, curry goat and other traditional dishes and operates Monday–Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday–Sunday until midnight.  Gulf Coast Media
  • Fans gathered on Feb. 25 at Portside on Main at The Wharf in Orange Beach to watch the Survivor 50 premiere, where Jonathan Young hosted the event with autographs, raffles (including prizes from Shades), and announced that weekly watch parties will follow.  Gulf Coast Media

  • University of South Alabama said today there is no queer animals lab and clarified that Dr. Heidi Lyn’s personal social media content misrepresented the school’s research, prompting removal of lab references from its website (her posts now reflect personal views).  1819 News
